I'm pretty sure Kim has fin rot =[. It started with fraying at the ends of his top fin, then i noticed pinholes, then he lost a chunk of that fin!!! This morning part of the remainder of that fin has split. I did a 25% water change yesterday and will do it again today but I worry that I'm changing the water parameters too much by doing so. Yesterday ammonia was at zero and so was nitrite so I wonder what it is stressing him out sigh.

I wonder how restful the sleep is considered when you dream of trying to encourage a tarantula to lay eggs and keeping it in a salad spinner so you don't lose it in your room. Then you have to protect a baby from some group that wants it for evil means. There was a whole lot of neck slashing and bleeding...possibly from reading a vampire story before bed. Still, you ever think you could slash someone's throat with an x-acto knife? I spose if the other option is that guy slashing the baby's throat.

I didn't know we were going to do morning service for the rest of the quarter so I got a call at 8 am haha and subsequently got ready in about 4 minutes. I think I'm going to take one more hour of sleep. Oh yeah, new night guard. It was weird, stayed in my mouth though. Some teeth felt funny in the morning so I might need it adjusted. Twice I've had to rip it out of my mouth to answer the phone @.@

McDonald's has pumpkin pies (like their apples). Go get some.

It was the dawn of a new day! A sunny Saturday morning just waiting to be taken! And so I hurried home from my aunt's to ready for the purchase of my new betta.

Then Michael told me he wasn't free until 5 so I took a nap most of the afternoon.

Finally with Michael's arrival we went to the fish store to find walls of bettas in jars and mcCafe cups and boba cups haha. There he was! The prettiest light blue half moon double tail betta in the whoooooooole store. Upon asking how much he was we learned at he was $18 =[. There's no way I can bring myself to spend that much on a fish. After many a wheedling I convinced Michael to make him my christmas present, whee. Now the man in the store talked us into first cycling the tank and all kinds of craziness so little McCafe as we nicknamed him had to hang out in the cup for awhile. And me with an empty tank? ::goes insane::

Craig's list to the rescue! Someone was selling 10 red cherry shrimp which I proceeded to purchase from her outside of a starbucks haha. Wheee they owned the tank eating I have no idea what because it sure as heck wasn't the food I was trying to feed them. The weirdest thing was that I thought they would just hang out in the tank but they swam like laps around the tank.

Then when Josh was here I went and bought 4 neon tetras, awwwww. They would poke the shrimp now and then but there seemed to be a coexistance.

It had reached only the 2 week mark or so of 4 for cycling but I couldn't stand it and added Kim as he became known to the tank. He sure seems to like the space, swim and fan out, and swim and fan out, and show off, that fop. Now however about a week later I can locate no shrimp >.> uh oh....

Today I have purchased a new baby moss ball by the name of Steph Jr. She is the first addition to my new fish tank. Helloooo student loans.

Tomorrow I attempt to make a Calzone. Got a pizza dough ball from unsafeway, mixed jarred spaghetti sauce with onions, bell peppers, more garlic, and baby bella mushrooms. Also have some cheeeese in the fridge. And nap time.

The kitties went back yesterday because it was time and because I had no time. C'est la vie, maybe when i have a car and i don't have dnetal school.

That does leave me time to do laundry however! (and groceries) Today is my first time in a laundromat. I'm kinda sad because there are 3-4 different machines and I can not tell what the difference between them is..... maybe price? It looks like the ones I chose (side loading) take 25 minutes to go through a cycle so that's pretty fast. Then we'll have to see how the dryer works. It was 2.75 for each load (dark and light. Really I'm gonna try and do it at my aunt's I think cuz this is ridonkulously a pain.

I did one load in the dryer for 46 minutes on low and the other one I have set to 30 minutes on medium heat so let's see how it works out. 1$ for half an hour.

The 30 min set was almost dry, the 45 minute was drier.

So yesterday I got my modem and I was like bam! I'm set! But lo and behold I get no connection and therefore can't complete the activation. I decided to get up at 7:30 today so I could call comcast while they're open and so I have time to go to school. The man says it may be that my cable was switched off because previous rentor didn't pay, or that my wiring was jacked up. (the latter means I have to pay for it) The solution is that tomorrow, the cable man will come check things out....at 7:30 am ::cry::. What else can I do, I gots school.

Fine whatever, I gotted me a bagel for breakfast, that's cool right?

Well I was scheduled (1pm, I was seen at 1:10) for my 3rd shot in the hep B vaccination series and instead the nurse tells me that they want a surface antigen test and no I can't have the shot because it'll interfere with the test. They don't draw blood at school so I had to hoof it right then to the UCSF clinic thing on post street. Got there 1:40, seen at.. 1:50 or 2 (walk in). That lady must have had a fat needle for the blooddrawing cuz owwwww. And then on the walk home it felt like I had a bruise and someone was poking it!!!!! OWWWW. Late to class.

Alright! 5 o clock rolls around and it's time for bootcamp......
I guess placing my lunchbag in my clothes bag was a terrible idea (my locker is only so small!!!) because my tshirt aaand pants had a 4 inch diameter water spot on them!!! In different places because they were folded grrrrrr. My bootcamp mates were like,,,, why do you have circles... grah.

I like to complain. Aside from weird happenings the day was pretty normal. Time to take another minute shower, it seems to be picking up speed (yeah...normal ;_;). Come on landlord, where's that plumber. He okayed the kittehs but I haven't heard word from the rescue yet. Lessee Wondercat Rescue.

Tonight in the middle of talking with Josh online, I happened to glance out my window due to movement. Never does a Steph expect to see TWO KITTY FACES STARING AT HER. What could I do but open the window and pet them <3<3<3<3. Then the calico hopped into my apt. Teehee, that's ok, I kinda wanted that to happen. She then proceeded to ::own:: rub everything in my apartment. Well gee kitty greedy much? Meanwhile kitty number two looked through the window and paced a little like "OMG CALICO WTF ARE YOU DOING".

Anywho this was fun for 5 minutes.... and then I started thinking @.@ what is my neighbor gonna think ( I knew neighbor had a kitty and the window there was open along with food bowls). Ok kitty time to go outside, I led her to the window and she looked at me.... and turned around and went back to rubbing. -_-. I don't blame her, it was really cold outside hahahaha. When she went in my closet I decided ehhhhh let's not rub all my clothes and picked her up but she came attached to my laptop case so while I tried to dislodge her from it, she tried to dislodge from my and unfortunately I've a scratch on my leg. Ok kitty time to go ::point:: ::kitty wanders around:: . HMMMM. At one point scaredy cat gets gutsy and hops in a sniffs a bit. I tapped on the window and scaredy cat went oki and hopped out, awww. I said "see kitty? now you go out" ::kitty goes into kitchen instead::

Then I had the brilliant idea: let's interest kitty with my broom!!

Now that I was having a stare down at the window with calico I heard a "oh she's in the other apartment" and my neighbor gal was out on the balcony. So I tried to apologize for stealing her cat and she was like ack sorry, bad kitty. I told her no I like kitties and apparently she has 3. Me jelly.

Those cookies turn out soft and chewy! Phuong approved. My mom was like, can you cook them a little longer? and Phuong goes what? you like them hard? Yes.

I tried to clean Daniel's teeth the past tuesday but sleep on the floor hit so hard I couldn't barely move...and i was a quarter of the way into the procedure. -_-

I have returned to SF and it is COLD. It was so warm in socal, sigh. School restarts in two days.

I feel pretty normal...with moments of panic. Also a headache from lack of sleep, EFF HAMSTER! There is no need to marathon all night!!! My aunt said: "speaking of bulgogi, how's daniel?" Haha.

Yum, the time for baking arises again! Mostly I'm hungry and my mom hasn't made dinner yet. Same recipe as always, compared to the link I melted the butter and doubled the ingredients. I did let the melted butter and sugar sit awhile both before and after mixing, oh and I swapped the amounts for brown sugar and white sugar in hopes of acheiving either chewiness or toffiness, we shall see when they bake. For right now it will hang out in the fridge.

Saw Kung fu Panda 2 and I think it was better than the first one, yay! They only had Jackie Chan say like...hard core though ;_;.

The claritin had no effect on either my hands or my throat..bummer. Mom says cortisone should work but.... I don't really wanna have that stuff on my hands, how will I type?

So I've been pretty much a bum the last few days, but if I can remember to do it before eating a bunch of food I will do more cartwheels. Tomorrow however is Sagami-Tei and I am going to eat so much stinky roll!!!!!! Garlic? heck yes.

Oh we watched The Frightners today. Crazy chicks are craaaaaaaaaaazy. Also saw Trolls 2 which was really stupid. Bad funny stupid I guess? That's not enough to keep me particularly interested in a movie but I know it does for some other people.

The girls have left me and gone to France to eat delicious. ::sparkley eyes:: me jelly. Hamster greeted me with wheel running noises...actually it beats nothing but that wheel is coming off while I sleep.

We're gonna have waffles, aaaand bacon. My mom is kinda weird about it though.

Mom: do you want belgian waffles or normal waffles?
Me: what's the difference?
Mom: one says crisp and fluffy, the other one does say anything.
Me:...how about the fancier sounding one? what's the actual difference?
Mom: belgian waffles have cream.
Me: oh, we don't have cream.
Mom: yes we do.
Me: ok let's do that one.

TIME PASSES

Mom: do you want belgian waffles or normal waffles and a cake with whipped cream.
Me: what? i only heard when you said cream and that was the last word.
Mom: (repeat above)
Me: >.> are you talking to kimmy?
Kimmy: what?
Mom: (repeat) something something birthday cake.
Me: oh ok let's do normal ones then, no one wants naked cake.

Really, I just wanted both the cake and the waffles and the bacon. I have itchy fingers and I want to gnaw them off. I am making note of this here because we're going to experiment and see if allergy medication alleviate said problems.



Summer is glorious and Tim and I spend an hour doing cartwheels and in his case various acrobatics and in my case rolling on the grass laughing at my lack of coordination. Mayhaps one day I too can go from standing into a backbend by myself!


EDIT: I just took an orally dissolving claritin. WOOOOOOW. Now you read a description like that and you think "er...yuuuummm.....ok not really that sounds awful" and you imagine it being all gritty like a flintstone's chewable. This was amazing! It had a hint of a mint flavor...and maybe some sour, but it only lasted 1 second in your mouth so it's hard to tell and when it dissolved it went........soft for a moment and then gone!!! I want to eat another one.

sleep or finals?

With all this craaazy sleep I've been getting, I'm dreaming a lot. This nap I dreamt Ken, Sellan and I went to the movies to watch teenage mutant ninja turtles. The movie that I dreamt up next was most assuredly not haha, more like a kids animated about....I don't remember but it involved a chase. I haven't gone to mah new place yet because....I don't wanna pay the bus fare since I'm not month passing it this month. So maybe tomorrow. Whooo who set up gas and electricity? Iiiiiiiiiiiii did! booyaka.

My stir fried noodles turned out a little bland, partially from not tasting very much during the cooking because of a large cankersore on the back/side of my tongue -_- chewing not fun. Anywho I have a heck of a lot of noodles sooo. Today's remedy:

went to Glive and it was really good, oddly enough kinda like going through the 101 book. After was thai basil tom kha noodle soup (yum ,heck yes) and guava pineapple from yogurtland (in lieu of my favorite lychee tart which they didn't have) a good substitute. haha most of the soup is in the fridge for tomorrow because i am dumb. Today's consumption levels: poor.

Today this is what i found in the student store! 2.25 so i wont be making this a habit. Mm pretty good. Softly ginger flavored, a little kick on the back of the tongue but not evil like ginger beer and definitely more taste than canada dry. Wheeee. Stuff, i guess ginger, is settled on the bottom and scared me a little bit it seems fine. Gentle tipping to get it to go around.

Day 4

First day back. It was ok and i got to try a myriad of dental products. Carifree treatment rinse made my tongue kinda numb so i couuuldn't really taste anything else. That or it was the chlorhexidine. Boost spray tastes alright as do citrusy xylitol mints. whee. there was so much boost on my face and in my hair the smell was making me sick but at the time i didn't know what it was. Yesterday for dinner i had the other half of that sandwich. Today i had 1/2 a fiber one bar ehh, 3/4 a lee's sammich (thanks jackie) and some miso soup with ramen for dinner. AND SODA. I WANT TO LIVE ON NOTHING BUT SODA. weird right?

Yesterday I had a strawberry, 1 inch of milk tea, half a sandwich and some soda. When I got on the plane they gave me pretzels and I thought "oh! lunch for school!"

when it rains

It has been pouring all week, I'm wondering if I should traipse around in my snow boots. I planted the oriental lilies today in the rain and oh my hands were like frozen hahaha. The foxgloves are getting bigger, one with torn leaves from the elements though (which ken is apparantly a man of). Er I feel a bit bad for the baby snap dragons because i thew them in haphazardly but really they were sooo little and stuck together >.> I have a lot more seeds so... hehe. Hugh has taught me that I need to go for the free range chickies and to lay off that ready made!! I'm such a bum. Cheers!

I made more of the same cookies in the correct order....They're thin and crispy this time! Go figure. They've only cooled for a bit so we'll see if they become rocks in an hour. They seem light enough right now. Note to self, the oven at Co Hanh's is cooler so it will take longer than 12 minutes, 14 maybe and that's at 375 degF. The foxgloves that were transplanted are still alive. I planted ornamental kale, baby snapdragons, strawberries (which hate me), and Canterbury bells. I planted the normal snapdragons on new years day I think. My windowsill is all pots! Oh, in case I didn't mention before Joyce said the owner said a no no on pets so no betta for me ;_;. Honestly I don't think anyone actually would say no to a fish but it's too much hassle to try and figure it out since I was circumvented via email. For reals.

That is what Rachel asked her mum yesterday during dinner, since she's not chinese. Wow. But since I am also not mexican, I thought I'd try to prove it today and tada! Timmo you might recognize this. Look Daniel I'm learning! except you probably wouldn't like this. The book I got the recipe from calls it tomato egg drop soup. I dunno what it's called so we'll stick with that.

I didn't follow it very closely cuz I didn't think it necessary. That means I grabbed an onion and a moderate sized tomato, added a garlic, eyeballed the fish sauce and salt. More like tongue tested I guess. The water I added until it looked like a good amount which came out to 4 cups for me. But yeah. I also subbed shimeji mushrooms for the pork cuz....that's what I had in the house.

Behold! made from instant package sweet korean pancakes! They are called Hoddeok i think and mmmmm.




first your make the dough which is mixing a flour packet a yeast packet and water. It smells pretty good at that point. Then you oil your hands and roll the dough into 10 balls. Then you fill each one with a tasty sugar cinnamon peanut mix (this is dry but it melts with cooking!







into the fry pan it goes! there's some kinda stamp for mushing it circularly....I repeatedly went at it with the spatula. Flip when golden brown.




mmmmmmm the one in the circle bowl is the Sellan friendly side, not made in my cast iron in case bacon residues matter (not that you taste anything like that, I cleaned it pretty well). The filling oozes out, so, good!

When i get around to it i will show pictures of my snow toof. Daniel came to see me last weekend! Best weekend ever! We made shandies with michael and pizza tooo. SO GOOD. We also tried kraken rum which is reasonably tasty but also makes you feel like you can breathe fire ahahahha.
This week is a hit and a miss, failed the fixed practical 4/7 and passed the op one 6/5. Then cut the brain out of our cadaver =O. It was really hard and we ended up having to take the brain out with the skull cap. the dura mater was just too stuck to the bone. I had stuck my hands up in there to try to sever the connection but to no avail! An instructor did much of it for us haha.

Righto, so my current obsession is with this little guy.

An addendum to the last cookie note, they came out chewy instead of crunchy hahaha but people seem to like them. I had accidentally added the flour before the eggs and vanilla extract because I was distracted. Saved!

I made some sellan friendly cookies yesterday ala this recipe and they're surprisingly good. I did add like 1-2 tbls butter because sellan can have dairy. So instead of the half cup oil it's like 2 tbls butter, quarter cup applesauce (unsweetened) and the rest veggie oil. They are a little underdone because the reviews for the recipe were like don't overcook! so I was scared. They are chewy and remind me of a packaged soft cookie from I dunno what brand. Success!

I was in Tahoe with Theresa this weekend! It was so fun. I can make an oreo go from my forehead to my mouth with my face muscles (but not that fast). I am also a champion dragon streamer which is when you hold on to the end of a streamer decoration roll (paper) and some one holds the other end, and you wave your arm in a circle as fast as possible to get it wound around your hand. Egg beating skills? Theresa played the office ping pong game. The next day was snoooooooooooooooooow. White and fluffy and surprisingly sticky. I rode a sled, made perfectly smooth snowballs, made snow angels, and a snow tooth! ahahahha Mandibular second molar, 3 cusp type. Snow clothes are very good at keeping you warm and dry, much appreciated. At Theresa's church they really like to feed you. I had breakfast, played snow, lots of lunch, played snow, snack, drove back, buffet dinner, then Theresa's ::pass out::

I love okonomiyaki. Yum, favorite dinner, but don't get it at that one Japantown place. They don't put okonomi sauce or bonito flakes on it! Travesty!

My long post is pictureless because I only had time to either post or upload. It is 10:40 and I need to sleep because school beckons tomorrow morning at 7 am because this fixed project is kicking my butt.

Monday was a lovely gift exchange flavored with pizza and frozen yogurt. Yours truly gave Sellan a vegan ice cream recipe book called "lick it!" which was funnier than I had realized when buying it >.>. Linh gave to me pepper spray and an instant read thermometer, yay! So I can't actually make candy with it but I shall find some use.

It has been a rather poor week for food since I didn;t cook on sunday and I'm going with theresa to tahoe this weekend so i don't want to make anything during the week either. On the bright side, this loaf of bread I bough shall be finished before it goes bad! Can't say the same for the turkey.....It's been mostly eggs for dinner, bacon yesterday and today i have miso with wakame and a couple udon noodles >.> oy.

This quarter we went into school thinking, I'm gonna stay on top of things!! I can do this! Then today we had fixed prosthedontics and uhhhh ::owned::
We had to fake a fracture on a tooth, make a large amalgam filling MOD on #14, and stick putty in the socket of number 12. Then they want use to take impressions, then pour stone, then wax up the messed up teeth, then impression, then pour stone again, and then mount that, by next week, ignoring the fact we also have and ICS test on monday, an operative practical on thurs and some kinda sciencey test on friday. That my friends is absolute bollucks.

On a lighter note, this weekend I shall experience snow for the second time and hope to see it fall from the sky. That will allow me to properly assess whether snowflakes fall gigantic and handsized from the sky.

the return part 2

So it's better than last time still but talk about laaaazy, I sat in bed and watched river cottage and manga from waking (10:30) until 3! then i bought way more groceries than I should have. The weirdest thing, Safeway wasn't selling ANY cabbage!! That means no okonomiyaki this week. Also i didn't eat since lunch yesterday until 8 pm this evening (also not a good sign for mood). ;_; minor weepiness. So what to do when I haven't eaten and don't feel great?










Bake stuff for other people! Yay jackie and joyce will eat these. I made i think 3 dozen and placed 2 logs into the freezer, phew! That means I'm too tired to cook for this week. Turkey sandwiches go go.
